The next Mass Effect project
BioWare has confirmed that it is closing and that early development on its next Mass Effect project is ending. The studio announced the decision through its official account on 21 October 2026.
The announcement changes the outlook for that future project. It gives no final closure date or alternative development plan.
What the statement covers
BioWare says its immediate focus is supporting its team through the transition. It thanked players for more than three decades of shared adventures, naming games including Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
The announcement concerns the studio and the project in early development. It contains no service shutdown, store removal or refund announcement for existing games.
