A fix is being monitored

Duolingo says it has implemented a fix for its latest service incident on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. The official report moved to Monitoring at 20:18 UTC, or 21:18 BST in the UK. It had not been marked Resolved at our latest check.

That distinction matters if you are trying to return to a lesson: the provider is observing the results of the fix. The update does not confirm that access has recovered for every learner.

Two separate reports on the same day

The current incident was logged as Investigating at 17:32 UTC, or 18:32 BST. Duolingo described it as increased errors, with the affected component listed simply as Duolingo.

An earlier report with the same title had already been marked Resolved at 17:23 UTC, or 18:23 BST, nine minutes before the new investigating update. That earlier incident was first logged at 14:57 UTC. Its resolution does not close the later report.

These times identify the provider's published updates. They do not establish precisely when every user's difficulties began or ended.

Which services are listed as affected?

At the time of checking, the status homepage still labelled the Duolingo component Major Outage. Duolingo English Test and Duolingo for Schools were listed as Operational.

The current incident does not give an operating-system breakdown, a country list or a technical cause. It also contains no specific instructions about streak protection, progress restoration or compensation.

Where to check the latest update

Use the current incident report linked below for the latest monitoring or resolution notice. The status homepage lists the individual service components and the earlier resolved incident separately, so check the report's update time as well as its title.

The current incident page also offers a Subscribe to Updates option if you want Duolingo's subsequent notices sent directly to you, rather than repeatedly checking the page.
