Who receives the extra day?
Square Enix announced one day of Final Fantasy XIV game time on October 23 for eligible global-version service accounts following the security-related suspension of new logins.
Two conditions apply: the account must have the full game registered, and it must have had an active subscription on October 21 or October 22, 2026, measured in Pacific Daylight Time. The eligibility test concerns the subscription on those dates, rather than when a player next signs in.
When does the extension arrive?
Distribution starts on October 28 at 12:00am PDT, equivalent to 3:00am EDT or 07:00 UTC. Square Enix expects the staged process to take two to three days, so the start time is not a promise that every eligible account will receive its day immediately.
Recurring subscribers will have their subscription end date extended by a day. Paid extras such as additional retainer subscriptions will also be extended. Accounts without recurring payments receive one day of game time.
This notice covers the global version. Square Enix cautions that compensation availability and the number of days can differ by operating region.
Logins and save-data backups have resumed
The login interruption ran from October 21 into October 22 in the North American notice. Square Enix attributed the work to security enhancements responding to a critical PHP vulnerability. Its October 22 follow-up says new logins resumed at approximately 5:16am PDT that day.
A separate October 23 follow-up says the save-data server backup function resumed around 1:35am PDT on October 23. That later notice supersedes the earlier statement that backups were still suspended. The new compensation announcement does not mean a fresh login shutdown has begun.
