Two goals turn a tied mark into a new record
Nashville SC finished the 2026 MLS regular season with 77 points after beating FC Cincinnati 2-0 away on November 7. The result takes Nashville beyond the previous 74-point record set by Inter Miami in 2024.
Sam Surridge scored both goals. The club’s match report describes the opener after the hour mark from an Andy Najar pass and a second breakaway finish near full time. Nashville ends the regular season with 23 wins, three defeats and eight draws.
The Shield was already secured
Nashville had already won its first Supporters’ Shield before Decision Day and had drawn level with the old points record on November 1. Saturday’s new achievement is the outright regular-season points record, rather than a newly won MLS Cup.
MLS lists Inter Miami’s 74 points, New England’s 73 in 2021 and LAFC’s 72 in 2019 below Nashville’s new total. These are regular-season points, not playoff results.
Orlando or Cincinnati awaits in the playoffs
Nashville will face the winner of the Eastern Conference Wild Card match between Orlando City and FC Cincinnati in Round One of the playoffs. The opponent is not decided in these reports.
As Supporters’ Shield winner, Nashville has hosting priority through MLS Cup if it reaches the December 18 final. That gives supporters a conditional home-field advantage to follow, not a guaranteed place in the final.
