What does AirnodeHub do?
AirnodeHub is an early-access API marketplace built by API3. An API lets software request information or services from another system. The Hub puts those services in a machine-readable catalogue, so an AI agent can find a relevant operation, inspect its inputs and price, and request a signed response.
How an agent finds the right tool
The documented MCP endpoint is https://airnodehub.api3.org/mcp. MCP lets compatible AI clients discover and use tools through a shared interface. Connecting to the catalogue does not require an account or API key.
Tools cover listing searches, operation details, plain-language requests, calls and signature checks. A travel assistant could, for example, look for flight information and destination weather, then preserve each response separately. This is an illustrative workflow, not a Briefpixel hands-on test.
What a signature proves
Verification checks the signing identity and can bind the response to the exact request, timestamp and returned data. It does not establish that the underlying information is factually correct.
The listing badge matters: first-party means the original data source runs the Airnode. A third-party listing signs as a relay for someone else's API. API3 currently builds and hosts the integrations; its provider guide says the library for independent deployments is not yet published.
Costs and early-access limits
Discovery is free. Consumer documentation describes one priced operation using test funds on Base Sepolia, with other calls free during early access. The provider status page also says a marketplace payments backend is deferred and no revenue flows yet. That makes production billing an area to verify before relying on it.
For a developer evaluating the service, start with the catalogue, check the first-party or third-party badge, and read the operation's current price and required inputs before allowing an agent to run it.
