AO3 outage: restoration could take two to four weeks, OTW says

The latest estimate

Archive of Our Own is undergoing maintenance. In a 17:41 UTC update on 29 October, the Organization for Transformative Works estimated restoration would take around two weeks and could extend to four.

An earlier update had suggested at least 12 hours. The later estimate is the one readers should use.

What an earlier return would mean

OTW hopes to reopen the site sooner in a degraded state. Access could resume before full restoration, with possible temporary shutdowns while work continues. There is no confirmed reopening date.
