Binance said user funds were completely safe in an updated statement at 21:29 UTC on 29 October 2026. The exchange said it was actively investigating reports of a potential security issue.
It warned users against unofficial links, messages and requests for account information.
What CZ reported
In a 21:15 UTC post, CZ said Binance appeared to have been hacked. He credited Tether with freezing about $971 million and Circle about $823 million. These figures are CZ's, not an independently verified loss total.
CZ said he no longer manages Binance.com. As a shareholder, he expected user funds to be fully covered. That remains an expectation, not confirmation of paid reimbursement.
