Two reported profit measures

National Australia Bank released its full-year 2026 results on November 5. Statutory net profit was A$6.143 billion, down 9.1% from FY2025. Cash earnings were A$6.141 billion, down 13.4%.

Cash earnings are NAB’s non-IFRS performance measure, separate from statutory profit. The bank says that measure is not audited or reviewed under Australian Auditing Standards.

Why the underlying-growth headline differs

Excluding A$949 million of after-tax large notable items, cash earnings were A$7.090 billion, almost unchanged from A$7.091 billion a year earlier. NAB’s 6.9% underlying-profit growth figure also excludes large notable items; it is not growth in reported cash earnings.

The credit impairment charge rose to A$1.547 billion from A$833 million. It includes a net A$403 million increase in forward-looking provisions, so the charge should not be read as a tally of newly defaulted loans.

Dividend dates for shareholders

NAB declared a fully franked final dividend of 85 Australian cents per share, bringing the annual total to A$1.70. Its calendar lists November 10 as the ex-dividend date, November 11 as the record date and December 15 as the payment date. Shareholders can check those dates against their registry records using the official calendar below.

The workforce plan was announced earlier

The CEO’s results statement repeats an existing plan to reduce the workforce by up to 2,500 roles by September 2027. This is a previously announced target, not a newly completed reduction of 2,500 jobs.
