A new release for Switch 2
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launched on October 22, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo lists the game at C$69.99 on its Canadian launch page.
The 12 motion-controlled sports include tennis, bowling, boxing, archery and skateboarding.
Check which controllers your group needs
Nintendo says existing Joy-Con controllers can be used in most cases. Skateboarding specifically requires Joy-Con 2, so older controllers do not cover every sport.
Up to four people can play offline on one Switch 2, and additional accessories may be required for multiplayer. Nintendo advises wearing wrist straps and leaving enough space around players.
Local play and online lobbies have different limits
The online Friend Lobby supports up to eight players, with a maximum of two on each system. That is different from the four-player limit for offline play on one console.
Online features require internet access, a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership. Solo players can instead take on Island Crown, a single-player-focused mode spanning nine sports, and earn customization options as they progress.
Read the trial conditions before activating it
The launch announcement offers eligible accounts a seven-day Nintendo Switch Online trial, including people who have tried a trial before. Accounts with an active Individual or Family Membership cannot redeem it, and it does not cover the Expansion Pack tier.
Unless cancelled, the trial converts to a one-month membership with automatic renewal at the then-current price. Check the offer terms in your account before activating it.
