A different kind of finalist
Chandler Simpson is among the American League outfield finalists for the 2026 Silver Slugger Awards, announced on November 5. MLB lists a .306 batting average and an AL-leading 46 stolen bases for his season, alongside zero home runs.
That makes his candidacy unusual for a hitting award. MLB identifies Ozzie Smith in 1987 and Pete Rose in 1981 as the only previous non-pitchers to win a Silver Slugger after a season without a home run. Simpson has been named a finalist, not a winner.
Who votes, and when results arrive
The award recognizes the best hitter at each position in each league. Managers and coaches vote, and cannot choose players from their own teams. It is not a public fan vote.
MLB says the winners will be announced on November 17. Its report does not provide an announcement time or viewing arrangements, so no broadcast or subscription access is assumed here.
