The scheduled constituent change
James Hardie Industries will replace Roku in the S&P MidCap 400 before the opening of trading on Wednesday, November 11, S&P Dow Jones Indices announced on November 6. James Hardie is listed under ticker JHX; Roku’s ticker in the announcement is ROKU.
The index provider classifies the addition in Materials and the deletion in Communication Services. It says Fox’s acquisition of Roku closed on November 6 and gives that transaction as the context for the replacement.
What the announcement changes
This is an upcoming change to the index’s membership. It does not say James Hardie joined on the announcement date, and it concerns the S&P MidCap 400 rather than the separate S&P 500.
S&P describes the MidCap 400 as a benchmark for 400 mid-sized companies in its US equity index range. Readers comparing a constituent list should distinguish the November 6 announcement from the November 11 effective date. The release does not specify an individual fund’s trading schedule or forecast either company’s share price.
