A November 13 effective date

NAB, ANZ, Westpac and Bankwest announced variable home loan interest rate increases on November 4, 2026. Each lists November 13 as the effective date for a rise of 0.25 percentage points a year.

That is the date the announced rate changes apply. The amount a customer must pay and the date a new minimum repayment starts depend on their lender and loan notice.

Which loans are covered?

NAB says its announcement applies to standard variable home loan rates.

ANZ lists variable home loans, residential investment loans and line-of-credit home loans in Australia. Its rate-change page expressly excludes ANZ Plus products.

Westpac says its variable home loan increase covers new and existing customers.

Bankwest specifies standard variable rates on new and existing home loans. Match the named loan product to your own account before applying the announcement.

Repayment notices and app rates can arrive later

Bankwest says principal-and-interest customers will receive notice before a new minimum monthly repayment takes effect. For interest-only payments, its detailed guide says the interest and repayment amount update from the new rate date, following the regular payment cycle.

ANZ says the new interest rate applies from November 13 but will be visible in its app and Internet Banking from November 14. Its repayment notice identifies any changed minimum amount, start date and required action.

What borrowers can check now

Check the loan product named in your bank's announcement, then read your own repayment notice and payment settings. For ANZ customers, the notice can be found under the home loan's Notices tab; the required action can differ for bank-managed and customer-managed payments.

NAB and Westpac both direct customers who are worried about meeting repayments to contact their bank early about support. Use the linked official pages for your lender's instructions and updates.
