Member schools reverse the change
NCAA Division I men’s soccer will keep its championship season in the fall after member schools rescinded the proposed move to a two-semester playing season. The NCAA announced the outcome on Friday, November 6.
The association said two-thirds of Division I member schools rescinded the previously approved change at the end of a procedural 30-day period. The rejected model would have spread the playing season across fall and spring, with the championship in spring.
October’s approval was subject to review
The Division I Cabinet had affirmed the calendar proposal on October 7. Because it did not receive a 75% majority, NCAA procedures allowed member schools a 30-day rescission process.
That earlier announcement said the proposal would take effect in the 2027-28 academic year if it survived the review. November’s rescission means that conditional calendar change will not take effect under this proposal.
What this means for season planning
For programs, players and supporters looking ahead, the confirmed outcome is a fall championship season for Division I men’s soccer. The previously proposed spring championship should not be treated as an adopted future schedule.
The announcement does not provide a new team-by-team fixture list. Readers should use their school’s official schedule for individual matches and the linked November 6 NCAA decision for the status of this calendar proposal.
