The new figures cover the September quarter
Supermicro reported preliminary, unaudited first-quarter fiscal 2027 results on November 3. The quarter ended September 30, 2026. Sales reached $19.9 billion, compared with $5.0 billion a year earlier and $11.1 billion in the preceding quarter.
This is a newer disclosure than the October 20 business update, which estimated quarterly revenue of $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion. Readers checking SMCI results should distinguish that earlier range from the November 3 figures.
Margin improved annually but fell from the prior quarter
The company reported a 12.7% gross margin. That is above the year-earlier 9.3%, but below the preceding quarter's 17.5%. Sales growth therefore does not mean the same margin trend over both comparison periods.
Diluted earnings were $1.75 per share under GAAP and $1.81 on the company's non-GAAP basis. These are different reporting measures; the release provides the adjustments between them.
Profit and cash flow tell different parts of the story
Net income was $1.594 billion, while operations used $434 million in cash. A company can report a profit while consuming operating cash, so the earnings total should not be read as cash generated during the quarter.
The December-quarter outlook is a forecast
For the quarter ending December 31, Supermicro forecasts sales of $19.5 billion to $21.5 billion. Its fiscal 2027 sales outlook is $72 billion to $82 billion. Neither range is an achieved result.
The release says its current financial information remains preliminary and may change as closing and review procedures finish. Use that qualification when comparing the figures with later filings.
