Mullins and Demary lead UConn to 2-0
No. 4 UConn defeated No. 16 Michigan 85-77 at TD Garden on Friday, November 6, in a rematch of the 2026 men’s NCAA championship game. The Huskies improved to 2-0; Michigan fell to 1-1.
Mullins finished with 23 points. Demary contributed 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists without a turnover, earning the Hall of Fame Series Boston game MVP award. Colben Landrew added 14 points off the bench.
A late first-half run creates separation
UConn closed the first half with nine unanswered points to lead 43-30, then stretched its advantage to 18 after the break. The Huskies made 30 of 36 free throws and held Michigan to seven three-pointers from 28 attempts.
Michigan’s Trey McKenney scored all of his career-high 22 points in the second half. The Wolverines reduced the margin late but could not erase UConn’s lead.
What the rematch changes
Michigan won the April national final 69-63. Friday’s result gives UConn the next head-to-head win and leaves the all-time series tied 3-3; it does not alter Michigan’s 2026 championship.
UConn next hosts Wagner on November 9 in Storrs. Michigan returns home to face Marquette on November 11. The teams’ linked official reports contain the final statistics and upcoming schedules.
